Below is a picture of my scalp after 15 years of this rare condition. All of the bare patches on my scalp are scarred over spots, where the hair follicles have been destroyed. The only negative about Cicatricial Alopecia is that it can be incredibly itchy. I now shave my head, so that my wig-wearing is really easy. I’ve never had a great head of hair until I started wearing wigs. I don’t know why, but losing my hair has not been traumatic for me. Perhaps because it was gradual and because there are so many fabulous wigs available these days. I’m lucky that at my age, 62, my husband LOVES my wigs. He is wonderfully supportive of all the hair that I have hanging in my closet!
